Zambia Misison in Accra

On Sunday 8th of July, 2023, President Hakainde Hichilema found time to meet with some Zambians residing in Ghana with whom he engaged on a wide range of discussions on the development the New Dawn Government is undertaking in our Country, Zambia and on matters of mutual interest regarding Zambia and Ghana.

The President encouraged Zambians to serve as exemplary ambassadors for their country by portraying a positive image and avoid any involvement in activities that may disrupt their stay in the host nation. To address the concerns raised by Zambians living in Ghana, such as the long delay in issuance of passports, the sixty ($60) dollar annual fee to renew Ghana card for non-citizens, and the high customs duties for exporting items to Zambia among other concerns. The President informed the Zambians living in Ghana that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had established a dedicated desk to handle the issues raised.

The President also assured those who expressed a desire to return to Zambia that they were free to do so, as law and order had been restored in the country and emphasized that no one would face harassment based on whatever background. The President stated that, the presence of commanders in markets and bus stations, which previously caused terror had been resolved.

President Hichilema underscored the importance of Zambians living abroad to engage in meaningful networking by identifying business opportunities that could attract investment back home. That each Zambian living in Ghana should be Marketing Officer for Zambia. The Head of State further wished a pleasant stay to all Zambians living in Ghana.
