Zambia and Jordan Forge New Diplomatic Ties as Ambassador Sikazwe Presents Credentials to King Abdullah II
 
His Excellency Lt. Gen. Dr. William Maipambe Sikazwe has formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, officially accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with residence in Ankara.
 
The ceremony for presentation of credentials took place at the Royal Court in Amman, Jordan.
During the ceremony, Lt. Dr. Gen. Sikazwe conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema to His Majesty King Abdullah II. He expressed his profound gratitude to the King for accepting his credentials and emphasized the strong commitment of Zambia to fostering international cooperation.
 
Dr. Sikazwe highlighted Zambia’s readiness to collaborate with Jordan across various sectors, including mining, agriculture, tourism, education, health and renewable energy. He extended a sincere invitation to Jordanian investors, to explore the opportunities in Zambia’s mining and agricultural sectors, which are among the most viable in the country.
 
He also reaffirmed the Zambian Government’s commitment to promoting high – level interactions between the two countries, with the aim of sharing opportunities for development partnerships and best practices in governance.
Dr. Sikazwe also pledged to focus on strengthening trade relations, acknowledging that they are currently at a nascent stage. He called for concerted efforts to boost import and export volumes and enhance collaboration in various sectors of mutual interest.
Addressing Zambia’s ongoing energy challenges, particularly the impact of droughts on hydroelectric power generation, Dr. Sikazwe invited Jordanian investors to participate in Zambia’s efforts to diversify the energy sector in renewable energy.
And King Abdullah II stressed the importance of enhanced cooperation in the field of security, noting Jordan’s extensive experience in providing training on security arrangements to several African nations. He extended an offer of similar support to Zambia underscoring the shared interest in promoting regional stability.
 
The King also extended an invitation for President Hichilema to undertake a state visit to Jordan, further solidifying the diplomatic and economic partnership between the two nations.
