The Permanent Secretary for Technical Services in the Ministry of Agriculture Mr John Mulongoti has described the just ended Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) which was held in Berlin, Germany as a progressive forum.
\nHe said the successful engagements that his delegation had, underscored Zambia\u2019s commitment to leveraging international partnerships to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability. The discussions also highlighted Zambia\u2019s vast potential for agricultural investment, from infrastructure development to innovative farming technologies.
\nThe Zambian delegation also had a bilateral exchange with Germany\u2019s Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon Cem Ozdemir , focusing on strengthening Zambia-Germany collaboration in agriculture.
\nMr Mulongoti also participated in a panel discussion on \u2018Bio Economy and Transformation of Agriculture and Food Systems\u2019 where he presented Zambia\u2019s initiatives in sustainable agriculture.
\nThe delegation further had engagements with the private sector that included the German Africa Agribusiness Alliance, Bayer, and Amatheon Agric, and explored potential investments in Zambia\u2019s agricultural sector.
\nThe forum culminated into the Berlin Agriculture Ministers Conference which focused on shaping policies for sustainable agriculture and concluded with the adoption of a forward- looking communique.
\nThis participation follows the landmark visit of the Germany Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Hon Cem Ozdemirand a German business delegation to Zambia in November 2024, which laid the foundation for Zambia\u2019s strategic engagement at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture.
\nMr Mulongoti stated that the Zambian government looks forward to fostering more investment opportunities from the connections established during the event.
\nThe Global Forum for Food and Agriculture is a premier international platform that convenes global leaders from politics, industry, academia, and civil society to discuss pressing challenges and opportunities in food security and sustainable agriculture.
