| <\/td>\n | <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA<\/strong><\/p>\n ASUNCION<\/strong><\/p>\n Press Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n PARAGUAYAN PRESIDENT INVITES ZAMBIA TO OPEN A RESIDENT MISSION IN ASUNCION<\/strong><\/p>\n ASUNCION-Thursday 14th<\/sup> November 2024.<\/strong> The President of the Republic of Paraguay His Excellency Mr. Santiago Pe\u00f1a has accepted the Letters of Credence from Zambia\u2019s Ambassador to Brazil Glyne Michelo, accrediting him as a Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Paraguay, with residence in Brasilia.<\/p>\n The Credentials Ceremony was held at the Palacio de los L\u00f3pez in Asuncion, Paraguay.<\/p>\n In his opening remarks, President Pe\u00f1a, who was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Rub\u00e9n Ram\u00edrez Lezcano, expressed happiness with the renewed bilateral relations between Zambia and Paraguay and invited Zambia to open a resident mission in Asuncion.<\/p>\n President Pe\u00f1a described Zambia as a rising star on the African continent in terms of economic transformation, an epicentre of peace and stability.<\/p>\n He indicated that he once visited Zambia when was working for the Bretton Woods Institutions and appreciates the economic strides the southern African country continues to make for its people.<\/p>\n And Mr. Michelo underscored President Hakainde Hichilema’s readiness to foster and strengthen relations with Paraguay for the benefit of the two nations.<\/p>\n Mr. Michelo indicated that under President Hichilema\u2019s leadership, Zambia continues to focus on other countries with similar interest to create new working economic partnerships, particularly in trade and investment.<\/p>\n The Ambassador committed to deepening and strengthening political, economic, social and cultural cooperation between the two countries during his tour of duty.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ambassador Michelo noted that investment and trade expansion is key to economic transformation of any nation, hence the need for Zambia and Paraguay to explore viable economic opportunities.<\/p>\n |
