Located in Southern Africa, Zambia is home of the mighty Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World heritage site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World – the only one in Africa.
The country enjoys a tropical climate –offering a ‘passport’ to sunshine all year round.
With a population of 19.6 million (2022), Warm and friendly people, Zambia is a country at peace with itself and its neighbours with 73 different ethnic tribes (speaking as many languages), living in harmony since time in memorial.
This rich cultural mosaic culminates into over 40 colourful traditional ceremonies held annually in different parts of the country, each celebrating age old traditions and norms that offer unforgettable cultural experiences to visitors. Two of Zambia’s masquerades; the Gule Wa Mukulu of the Chewa people of Eastern Province and the Likishi of the Luvale and Lunda people of North Western Province have received official recognition by UNESCO as ‘Artefacts of Indelible Culture’.
Zambia’s diplomatic relations with the DRC have always been warm and cordial and date back to pre- independence days. These relations are as result of the foundation which was set by our founding fathers.
The Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Kinshasa, DRC, was established in 1965. It is founded on national and international principles designed to facilitate the execution of core functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that among others, include the promotion and provision of consular services, promotion of Zambia’s interests in general, bilateral, multilateral and international cooperation. The mandate of the Mission extends to five (5) countries of extra accreditation namely; Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, The Republic of Congo (Congo Brazzaville), Cameroun, and The Central African Republic. Since 1965 when the Embassy was established, fourteen (14) Ambassadors have represented the Republic of Zambia in the DRC. In addition to the Embassy in Kinshasa, The Republic of Zambia also has a Consulate General in Lubumbashi, which provides consular services in Katanga, a Region which shares a long frontier with Zambia.
The Consular Department of the Zambian Embassy in Kinshasa offers consular services to Congolese nationals intending to visit Zambia and to Zambian citizens in the host country. Generally, the Embassy through the Consular Department provides a range of services such as visa and passport processing as well as document legalization, marriage registration, matters relating to Zambian nationality, birth of a child and many more.
