Pretoria, South Africa – The Zambia High Commission in Pretoria took part in the official launch of South Africa\u2019s Presidential One Billion Trees Programme, reaffirming Zambia\u2019s support for environmental protection and regional cooperation on climate action.<\/p>\n
Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Ruth Dante represented Zambia at the event, which was held at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden.<\/p>\n
The programme was launched by South Africa\u2019s Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Bernice Swarts, under the theme \u201cMy Tree, My Oxygen – Plant Yours Today.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, community leaders and school learners to encourage tree planting and raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment.<\/p>\n
Zambia\u2019s participation reflects the warm and longstanding relations between Zambia and South Africa, as well as the two countries\u2019 shared commitment to sustainable natural resource management, biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.<\/p>\n
