African Development Bank (AfDB) aspiring presidential candidate Dr. Samuel Maimbo says his vision for Africa is to ensure that the continent grows at a pace and scale that makes a difference.
Dr Maimbo made the assurance during a series of engagements in Berlin where he formally introduced himself to key development related parties as a candidate for the presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
He said his discussions on his vision for Africa were well received by various stake holders that he engaged adding that his three pronged approach towards growth on the continent, support for African governments and reform of the AfDB were all consistent with the strategic partner approach that the Germany authorities have, which are focusing on sustainable economic development, prosperity, overcoming poverty and building social protection, health and pandemic development, rule of law and peace and security.
Some of the stakeholders that he engaged include the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Ministry of Finance, the Foreign Office, the Germany Development Bank, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Germany Africa Foundation, experts from the Brunswick Group and the press (Table Media).
Dr MaImbo’s candidacy has attracted wide support including endorsements from regional organisations such as SADC and COMESA. He has further committed to engage African governments and non-regional members to earn their trust and support.
