On 27th February 2023, His Excellency Mr. Mathews Jere presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, accrediting him as High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia to Tanzania.
During the ceremony in Dodoma, President Hassan congratulated the High Commissioner on his appointment which signified President Hakainde Hichilema’s confidence in him.
The President urged the High Commissioner to ensure that the bilateral relations between Zambia and Tanzania are further strengthened.
The President emphasized the implementation of agreements between the two countries, including the One Stop Border Post at Nakonde and Tunduma in order to reduce congestion; the recapitalisation of the Tanzania Zambia Railways to improve efficiency, as well as the rehabilitation and upgrading of TAZAMA oil pipeline.
The President assured the High Commissioner of the Government’s continued commitment to the Power Interconnector Project.
In his remarks, the High Commissioner thanked President Hassan for accepting his appointment and providing support since his arrival.
