Zambia Misison in Geneva

01/12/25 – The Pledging Event for the Voluntary Technical Assistance Trust Fund for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), was held on 1st December 2025. The event was co-convened by H.E. Ms. Eunice M.T. Luambia, as Human Rights Council Focal Point for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs)/Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Trust Fund, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

The event was opened by the President of the Human Rights Council, H.E. Mr. Jürg Lauber, Permanent Representative of Switzerland and H.E. Mrs. Salma Rasheed, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives. The event aimed to address the critical funding gap for the Trust Fund by inviting existing and potential funding partners to show their support and commitments through pledges. It also provided an opportunity for former beneficiaries of the Trust Fund to share their experiences, demonstrating how the contributions of donor countries and the capacity-building training provided by the OHCHR empowered their participation in the Council.

In her closing remarks, Ambassador Luambia thanked the donors for their continued support and the pledges made during the event. She extended special appreciation to the Secretariat of their dedication to the work of the Trust Fund. The Ambassador concluded by pledging Zambia’s financial support to the Trust Fund.
