09/03/2026, Zambia, in its capacity as President of the 23rd Meeting of States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, convened the 11th Pledging Conference of the Convention. The Conference provided a platform for States Parties to make voluntary pledges to support the operations of the Implementation Support Unit (ISU). The ISU is mandated to provide technical support to the President and States Parties in implementing the Convention.
In her opening remarks, Amb. Eunice M.T. Luambia, Permanent Representative of Zambia, appealed to all States Parties to make generous voluntary contributions to the ISU, the sponsorship programme and the Cooperation and Assistance Fund. She also reminded States to pay their assessed contributions in full and on time.
The Conference ended on a successful note with several States Parties reaffirming their support for the implementation of the Convention and announcing their financial contributions to the Convention. The other States Parties that were not able to pledge were encouraged to make their voluntary contributions throughout the year, to ensure that there are sufficient funds for effective operations of the ISU.
