Zambia Misison in Geneva

23/03/2026 – Zambia is participating at the 14th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC-14) scheduled to take place from 26th to 29th March 2026 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Ahead of the formal opening of the Conference, the Zambian delegation joined other WTO Members in a series of pre-Ministerial meetings and high-level engagements aimed at shaping the agenda and outcomes of the Conference.

On 25th March 2026, the delegation participated in coordination Ministerial meetings of key negotiating coalitions, including the African Group, the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group, the Least Developed Countries (LDC) Group, and the Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC) Group. During these engagements, Ministers of Trade reaffirmed their shared priorities and emphasized the importance of unity and coherence in advancing common positions, particularly on issues central to development, inclusivity, and the reform of the multilateral trading system.

In addition, the delegation took part in several high-level events held on the margins of the Conference including an event on women and trade hosted by the International Trade Centre (ITC), the high-level launch of the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF), a ministerial dialogue on cotton, discussions on Investment Facilitation for Development, and a Business Forum bringing together public and private sector stakeholders. These engagements provided an important platform for Zambia to contribute to discussions on inclusive trade, sustainable development, and investment promotion.

Honourable Chipoka Mulenga, M.P., Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, is represented at the Conference by Mrs. Lillian S. Bwalya, Permanent Secretary for Trade at the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry. The delegation includes Amb. Eunice Luambia, Permanent Representative of Zambia to the United Nations Office in Geneva as well as Senior Government officials, and representatives from relevant Ministries and Agencies.

During participation in the events, Zambia reiterated her commitment to engaging constructively with WTO Members to advance outcomes that support its development objectives, enhance participation in global trade, and contribute to a fair, inclusive, and rules-based multilateral trading system.
