
The Ministry of Defence has accredited South Africa’s newly appointed Defence Advisor accredited to the Republic of Zambia, Colonel Ditebogo Phyllia Nare.
Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Mr. Maambo Haamaundu signed the accreditation certificate this afternoon in Lusaka.
And Mr. Haamaundu has urged Col Nare to continue working towards the enhancement of the partnership between the Zambia Defence Force and the South African Defence Force.
Speaking during the Accreditation Courtesy Call, Mr. Haamaundu said the the militaries of the two countries have been collaborating well in areas such as training exchanges, staff college participation, defence diplomacy and regional security matters.
“Our officers’ attendance at South African defence institutions has contributed significantly to professionalisation, interoperability and the development of shared doctrine and perspectives on regional threats,” said Mr. Haamaundu.
The Permanent Secretary appreciated the collaborative efforts with South Africa in peace support operations, counter-terrorism information exchange and regional security consultations with multilateral bodies.
“Zambia proposes deepening cooperation in the following priority areas: Training and Professional Military Education, expand Officer and Non Commissioned Officer Exchange Programmes, increase training slots at South African Defence Institutions for Zambian personnel and explore short courses in logistics and peace operations,” said Mr. Haamaundu.
And South Africa’s Defence Advisor accredited to the Republic of Zambia, Colonel Ditebogo Phyllia Nare said she will work towards enhancing the relations between the two Defence Forces.
