Zambia Misison in pretoria

“Zambia is strategically positioned to serve as a regional hub for trade, investment and industrial growth, supported by strong infrastructure partnerships and a stable policy environment.”

This was the message delivered by Her Excellency Ms. Grace Mutembo, Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, when she officially opened a high-level seminar on the Lobito Corridor in Pretoria.

The High Commissioner opened the event alongside His Excellency Mr. João Baptista Domingos Quiosa, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to South Africa, and His Excellency Mr. Fumio Shimizu, Ambassador of Japan to South Africa.

The engagement brought together diplomats, government officials, business leaders and development partners to discuss the strategic importance of the Lobito Corridor in enhancing regional connectivity and unlocking trade and investment opportunities across Southern and Central Africa.

For Zambia, the Lobito Corridor presents a transformative opportunity to improve access to international markets, strengthen logistics networks and support value addition in key sectors such as mining, agriculture and manufacturing.

The event was convened by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Southern Africa, led by Regional Project Coordinator Ms. Lindy Muzila, in partnership with Zambia’s National Prosecution Authority and the Financial Intelligence Centre, with support from the Government of Japan.

The engagement provided an important platform for stakeholders to address illicit financial flow risks, strengthen trade integrity and promote transparent, responsible investment along the Lobito Corridor.

The Zambia High Commission in Pretoria remains committed to promoting Zambia’s economic diplomacy agenda and supporting initiatives that advance regional integration and sustainable development.
