LET US IMPROVE TRADE WITH BRAZIL AS AFRICA AMBASSADOR MICHELO
Brasilia. Zambia’s ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil Glyne Michelo has affirmed Zambia’s commitment towards African Union’s aspiration of a prosperous Africa, based on inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Mr. Michelo indicated that being part of the Group of Heads of African Missions in Brazil, Zambia stands ready to contribute towards the achievement of an Africa that is strong, united, resilient and influential global player and partner as per Africa Agenda 2063.
The Ambassador was speaking during monthly Group of Heads of African Missions meeting in Brasilia, Brazil.
“Zambia is looking forward to close cooperation and collaboration with you all here in Brazil as we strive to achieve the African dream and as we work toward the Africa we want, he said.”
Ambassador Michelo implored the Heads of African Missions in Brasil to continue being a united force that work for the development of Africa through its engagements with the host state.
He said Brazil has an advanced manufacturing and industrialised economy that Africa can tap knowledge from especially that it is in line with Africa’s priority area of a science, technology and innovation driven manufacturing industry with a focus on value addition.
“We are privileged among out of millions of African to be here serving Africa and while we are here let us continue working hard to ensure that we attain economic diversification and resilience for Africa. Said Mr Michelo”
Mr. Michelo added that Brazil is the economic powerhouse of South American and the agricultural powerhouse of the world and that Zambia and the entire African continent should strive to attract Brazilian investors in the agriculture sector to ensure food security, national security and exports
In response, the Group of Heads of African Missions in Brazil, Chairperson of the group Martin Mbeng said it is an honour for the Group to have Mr. Michelo’s in the group whose experience in trade and economics will add value to the group.
Mr. Mbeng who is also Cameroon Ambassador to Brazil added that the Group of Heads of African Missions in Brazil works under unity based on the ideals of Pan Africanism and the vision of African renaissance and encouraged Mr. Michelo contribute to the group’s agenda freely.
