
THE KULAMBA CEREMONY
The Kulamba Ceremony is a traditional ceremony of the Chewa speaking people in eastern Zambia in which the Gule wa mukulu masquerades are displayed.
The Gule wa mukulu are very special, artistic and marvelous to watch, making this ceremony a ‘must see’. The Gule wa mukulu is one of the two masquerades in Zambia that have received official recognition by UNESCO as ‘Artefacts of Indelible Culture’.
To be part, make a date during the last Saturday of August yearly.
